With security concerns satisfied, Gus Macker set to tip off in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — After months of uncertainty, the Gus Macker finally has a home — at least for 2015.

The popular basketball tournament, which is set to tip off in just nine days, only got the final confirmation from the Grand Island Town Board on Thursday. The board wanted the tournament’s organizer to create a clear plan for security before giving the final blessing over the event.

The Gus Macker has previously played in Buffalo and at Darien Lake.

Over 260 teams have signed up to take part in the 2015 version of the tournament.
