BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Students never forget moving into their first college dorm rooms, and a record setting number of students are making those memories today at Buffalo State College. The campus is preparing to welcome it’s largest freshman class ever this semester.
“It’s a really tech savvy class,” President Dr. Katherine S. Conway-Turner said. “We have 170 different academic areas, and students are showing interest across all of them. Everything from arts and sciences to professional programs. They’re drawn to this exciting campus and we are really excited to have them come on board.”
News 4 spoke with incoming freshman Dean D’Accolti from Long Island who was moving in Tuesday with the help of his parents. He said a microwave he brought was not allowed in but he brought a refrigerator, bedding, shoes and clothing and of course his Xbox and computer. He said after he graduates with a business administration degree he wants to “start a business and get rich.”
The students and their parents had all day Tuesday to move into the residence halls, followed by orientation on Wednesday and Thursday. Classes start on Monday, August 31.
