Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield described the firefighters’ efforts, “Very difficult, very labor-intensive. That’s why you see the number of apparatus and personnel here. You basically have to carry a lot of equipment up to the floor to fight the fire. You have to get the equipment up there. A lot of ladder trucks. A very intensive operation.”

No one was injured, including the resident of the damaged apartment.

Firefighters were quickly able to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
