BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Marriott at HarborCenter is now open. It is the latest hotel opening in the downtown area.

The hotel can host between 400 and 500 people in its 205 rooms. Going rates are starting at $219 a night for a standard queen-sized room and up to $1500 for the presidential suite.

The hotel boasts a modern millennial concept – the first of its kind anywhere in the country.

“It was really tough to visualize, grasp and understand,” said Stan Makowski Jr., the Vice President of Arena Operations for the Sabres. “Now today, we get to do that and understand that.”

The Marriott at HarborCenter is part of the more than $200 million funded by the Sabres and Bills owners, Terry and Kim Pegula. Makowski said Kim played a critical part in the design team – giving input, touring frequently and hand-picking local artwork displayed on the walls.

“We want people to come here felling like they’re in a cutting edge property but know they’re in Buffalo,” says Makowski. “I hope this is a big step forward but yet, leads to more development and momentum.”
