Hip hop festival brings new people to break dancing

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo’s b-boys and b-girls are preparing for battle. Verve Dance Studio, the center of hip hop culture in Western New York, is hosting its popular “Battle @ Buffalo Under the Lights” break dancing festival at New Era Cap Headquarters on Saturday.

The event, which is now in its fifth year, prides itself on promoting the dance form within a family friendly atmosphere.

“We encourage everybody and their family to come out. It’s what the event was designed for,” said Verve Owner Heather Russell. “We’ve got free art and dance workshops for the kids to participate in. You’ll be able to see a lot of kids perform as well.”
