Elderly Tennessee man accused of murdering 81-year-old wife

ERWIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – An elderly Tennessee man is accused of killing his 81-year-old wife on Sunday in Unicoi County, Tennessee.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reports Norman McKinney flagged down a deputy near his home in Erwin and indicated he shot his wife.

McKinney reportedly led deputies to the couple’s home where they found his wife May suffering from a gunshot wound.

May McKinney later died at Johnson City Medical Center.

Her husband was taken into custody Sunday and charged Monday with one count of first-degree murder.

He’s being held on $300,000 bond. The incident remains under investigation.
