NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (MEDIA GENERAL) – Americans are dissatisfied, angry, and distrustful, according to a new poll.

A national poll by Quinnipiac University found 71% of American voters are dissatisfied with the way things are going in the nation today. Looking at the federal government, 49% of voters are dissatisfied but not angry with Washington, while 27% are angry.

They found only two percent of voters trust the government all of the time.

Democrats are holding higher favorability than Republicans right now, and it was found that a majority of American voters support new spending by the federal government to help students pay tuition at public colleges.

Daniel Hales of Greenfield told 22News, “Yes I think there’s a lot of dissatisfaction for good reason, primarily the divide between Republicans and Democrats and the fighting in partisanship.”

The poll also showed the majority of American voters are in favor of abortion in all cases, and want funding to Planned Parenthood to continue.

Quinnipiac surveyed more than 1,500 registered voters nationwide. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
