LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A local man is facing serious charges after an altercation left a New York State Trooper with an injury.
Police say they responded to Lockport where Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies learned of a domestic dispute on Robinson Road a week ago. Officers say while they responded, they spotted a person fleeing the scene on foot and acted to arrest him.
When one Trooper attempted to arrest Ruben A. Ruiz, a 26-year-old who allegedly fled police, police say he struggled. During the struggle, the Trooper reportedly sustained a wrist injury. Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies completed the arrest thereafter.
Ruiz stands charged with second degree felony assault. He was jailed on $25,000 bail, but will return to court in Lockport at a later date.
