BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two families from a war-torn city in Syria are thankful to have made their way to Buffalo.
They asked that their identity be concealed because they still have loved ones hoping to get out of Syria.
The fathers are brothers. Children in each family must share one bedroom. One family has four children, the other two.
Five are in school.
The fathers are being trained in carpentry and floor installation. They are eager to work.
They described their city in Syria as being leveled by bombs and fighting.
One of the young boys suffered a severe kitchen burn in his home in Syria but couldn’t be treated because his parents couldn’t leave the house. They said bullets were flying through the streets.
“My home is gone,” said one of the fathers. “There is no way to live over there. There is no life. There is no place for anybody to live there.”
