Randolph woman arrested after gunshots heard near her house during altercation

RANDOLPH, N.Y. (WIVB) — It took police intervention to prevent an altercation in a Chautauqua County town from escalating on Friday night.

Police say a tow truck driver responded to the Town of Randolph to repossess a tractor, but the tractor’s owner allegedly did not willingly let it go. The truck operator left the scene after he says he heard a gunshot come from Rosemary L. McKay’s home, and he called police soon after.

While New York State Troopers responded to the scene to investigate the driver of the tow truck, they too heard a gunshot ring out from the direction of McKay’s home. Police say they then responded to her house where she attempted to fight with uniformed officers.

Troopers arrested McKay and charged her with first degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.

McKay will return to court at a later date. A judge remanded her to jail on $2,500 bail.
