BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Was this one of the best summers in western New York? To some locals, the answer is yes, but others are just enjoying the summer’s length.
Rose McCarthy from Buffalo said she would have a hard time describing the summer in just one word.
“Summer weather in Buffalo is usually quite enjoyable I think,” she said.
Others in Delaware Park described it as “A fairy-tale,” or simply, “great.”
“This year it’s been very enjoyable, nice, you’re able to be out without an umbrella or rain coat, and that’s important,” said McCarthy. Ron Sanecki from Tonawanda added, “After the two winters we’ve had, it’s great.”
But it was not quite the perfect summer. Many saw heavy rain early on in the summer months. We checked in with News 4 Chief Meteorologist Don Paul who explained the fluctuations.
“No summer is going to be perfect,” Paul said. “We’ve had some periods where we’ve had excessive flooding, but on the whole we’ve had enough rainfall for gardeners and farmers.”
But with only one 90-degree reading McCarthy said, “It’s not too hot, not too cold and there is plenty to do.”
As September begins, many expect an end to summer, but it seems like it will stay around for a while longer. It’s the 8th day in a row we’ve seen an 80-degree temperature reading. The lake temperature hit a 75 degree average
Now the dog days of summer include September.
