Brinkworth vs. Freedman for E.C. Family Court judge

Buffalo, N.Y. (WIVB) — Kelly Brinkworth won the Democratic Primary for Erie County Family Court judge.

She declared victory live on News 4 at 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

She said she was best qualified for the job, having devoted most of her years as assistant county attorney to Family Court matters.

Erie County Democratic Chairman Jeremy Zellner said he believed a negative TV ad by opponent Michele Brown may have cost Brown votes.

The Brown ad had claimed that literature distributed by Brinkworth supporters contained statements that weren’t true.

Brinkworth now faces Brenda Freedman in the general election. Freedman won the Republican primary for Family Court judge. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
