Sheriff: Detectives solve case of stolen groceries valued at $1,000

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A grocery heist in Grand Island that puzzled investigators for about a month has officially been solved, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say two people made off with over $1,000 in groceries from the Tops Friendly Markets  store on Aug. 11. Employees of the store called for help after realizing a large quantity of groceries went missing, but police say they only provided a vague description of two suspects.

While investigating, Sheriff’s Office detectives say they worked with a partial plate number and the description of two women and eventually found a match. Police arrested Alexis Price and Angelina Colucci, two 19-year-old Grand Island natives, charging each with grand larceny.

Officers say both Colucci and Price will return to court at a later date to answer the charges. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
