BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo police have arrested a 44-year-old Victor Irizarry of Buffalo and charged him with murder in the 2nd degree in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on Clinton Street Saturday.
Police responded to a call of a shooting at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Clinton Street and Weaver Street. Nicholas Jozens, a 28-year-old man from Williamsville was transported to ECMC where he later died.
Following the shooting, police believe Victor Irizarry barricaded himself in a building in the 1900 block of Clinton. Just after 11:30 a.m. Buffalo SWAT and the Crisis Management Team were called to the scene.
During the standoff, Buffalo police gathered information that Irizarry might be hiding out in a garage on Barnard Street. With the assistance of South District Officers, the garage was surrounded and the suspect surrendered around 1:30 p.m.
