Buffalo ranked 10th best city in the nation for job opportunities

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Although America can be considered the land of opportunity, Buffalo may be one of the best places in the U.S. to settle down and dig in to grab a slice of opportunity pie.

A new list ranked the Queen City as number 10 on a list of the largest 358 metro areas in the nation. It won out over 348 other municipalities by exceeding in some of six key categories, including unemployment rate, rate of employment, growth of median income, housing costs and more.

The study, conducted by SmartAssets, a company that analyzes financial decisions, found that Buffalo has rebounded well from its recession and is flourishing in an economic sense. The study partially attributed that to the $1 billion investment from New York State that helped bring in companies like SolarCity and are bolstering job growth.

Buffalo ranked below only nine other cities, including three in Utah, Toledo and Austin. To see an entire list of the top 25 cities, click here.

However, Buffalo beat out three other New York cities, including Rochester, which ranked at number 17, Albany, which ranked at 19, and Ithaca, which ranked at 20.

The study concluded workers looking to get a fresh start may find their way in Buffalo, but they may just stay for the wings.
