Wisconsin firefighters rescue cat from underground pipe

De Pere, Wis. (WBAY) — It’s a joke firefighters hear all the time, but now some firefighters in Wisconsin can say they’ve rescued cats — not from up in a tree, but from an underground pipe.

Around 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, landscapers heard meows coming from a pipe outside a home.

First responders found a small cat stuck in a pipe that carries storm water from downspouts to the storm sewer under the street.

Firefighters had to dig up the pipe and then cut it to free the cat.

It appeared to be in good health and was taken to the Bay Area Humane Society.
