Union officials who embezzled funds sentenced to prison, ordered to repay cash

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — For the local Transportation Aides of Buffalo union, justice has been served as two former officials were ordered to repay embezzled funds.

Following their sentencing, Betty Martin, 54, and Duane Rush, 44, both headed to prison for a year behind bars. Each person will also be forced to repay funds they pleaded guilty to embezzling from their former union.

Martin and Rush served as president and vice president of the union when they stole about $120,000 together, and each will be forced to repay about half.

After pleading guilty to the crime in June, the two fraudsters faced fines of up to $1 million and a penalty of up to 30 years behind bars.
