BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — For the first time since the Buffalo Sabres traded for Evander Kane last season, the young forward finally makes his Sabres debut, playing alongside fellow acquisition Ryan O’Reilly in a much-anticipated Wednesday evening preseason home opener.
“Having a guy like O’Reilly who can distribute the puck makes a big difference,” said Kane. “You can have all the speed and talent in the world but if you don’t get the puck it’s hard to do much out there.”
“Kaner’s speed, you give him a chance and he can bury it,” said O’Reilly. “And (Tyler) Ennis, give him the puck cause he’s so shifty with it, it creates so much. For me, it’s guys who are easy to play with.”
Head coach Dan Bylsma says he’s already seeing chemistry developing within the line, particularly with Ennis and O’Reilly.
