Thousands line up early to catch glimpse of Pope Francis

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIVB) — Some western New Yorkers are among the thousands of people who set their alarm clocks extra early Wednesday just to get a glimpse of Pope Francis as he made his way through the streets in Washington.

Fans of the pontiff lined up even before the sun was up, including Buffalo native and St. Joe’s graduate Sam Braun. He’s among those volunteering as part of the Cap Corps program.

And as Pope Francis made his way around while waving from his motorcade, Canisius College journalist student Kyle Ferrara was there to document it all for the school’s newspaper, along with classmate CJ Gates.
