UB students respond to controversial project involving racial signs

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Students at the University at Buffalo are making their voices heard following a controversial art project.

A forum was held Wednesday night by the Black Student Union in response to “White Only” and “Black Only” signs appearing around campus earlier this month.

The signs quickly sparked questions and concerns before it was revealed to be a student-run project.

President of the union, Micah Oliver, says the open meeting gave students the opportunity to tell UB faculty and the administration how the project made them feel.

“Students as a whole, particularly minority students, are still in anticipation of something greater from university administration,” Oliver says.

UB has said that it’s reviewing the matter.
