Undercover underage alcohol sale check nets two arrests

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — Throughout Niagara County, Sheriff’s Deputies conducted an undercover check of local stores to ensure they comply with age laws in alcohol sales. Deputies say they found a few violators.

Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies checked out 28 different stores across the county that are accredited to sell alcohol. Of all locations checked, deputies say 26 stores complied, however two did not.

Police wound up arresting 30-year-old Tonya M. Spaulding and 24-year-old Patrick Jankowski, charging each with first degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sales.

Spaulding, who reportedly worked at a 7-Eleven store and Jankowski, who reportedly worked at the Hyde Park Mini Mart, both reportedly sold alcohol to underage operatives of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Each will return to court at a later date.
