6 locals aid South Carolina flood victims

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — As residents of South Carolina attempt to recover from historic floods, they’re being helped out by generous volunteers with the Red Cross program.

Officials with the Red Cross announced six western New York volunteers who offered their aid in South Carolina on Wednesday. Those volunteers helped 300 displaced South Carolina residents without places to sleep, and helped hundreds other with food and relief shelters.

Daniel Boyce, Jim Collingwood, Tom Daley, Sal Monda, Stu Moore and Diane Sargent are all western New Yorkers who join 500 volunteers from across the nation in aiding South Carolina residents.

Thus far, the Red Cross has distributed 26,000 meals, 4,500 relief items and have more supplies on standby if they are needed.
