BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Ever since Willy Wonka, there has been a lot of intrigue about what goes on behind the scenes at chocolate factories. That’s why this Columbus Day tradition is so popular for Fowler’s Chocolates. Each year, they open their factory up to public tours so people can see how they make their famous treats.
“We show a little bit about the old fashioned method of hand dipping chocolates, where we’ll have someone making peanut or raisin clusters, we have caramel apples that are being made. We’ll be molding some chocolate. And the thing people are most interested in is watching us make and cut sponge candy.”
A portion of this year’s chocolate factory ticket sales will go towards the Kaely’s Kindness Foundation, which provides resources for teenagers fighting cancer.
