Man arrested for flying drone into Albany’s Capitol Building

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — Drones continue to pose an issue for lawmakers across the U.S., but in Albany, one drone pilot became more of an issue when he crashed his device into the state’s Capitol Building.

Police say on Sept. 17, 36-year-old Adam Rupeka flew his drone over the New York State Capitol Building in Albany and crashed it into the chimney. Following investigation, police say they learned Rupeka flew the drone, and they arrested him on Oct. 1.

Rupeka faces charges of second degree reckless endangerment and reckless endangerment of property. He’ll return to court on Oct. 21.
