Local charged with felony promoting sexual performance by a child

CANEADEA, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Allegany County man is facing felony charges related to an underage sexual act after police learned of a summer incident.

Officers say they learned of and investigated an incident in July, sparking the arrest of 40-year-old Michael Gawlak. Gawlak stands charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, a felony charge.

After his arraignment on Thursday, police committed Gawlak to Allegany County Jail on $15,000 bail.

He’ll return to court on Oct. 20.
