More movie crews coming to WNY

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Starting Monday, more movie crews will be shooting scenes in the Village of Lewiston. The Mayor of Lewiston will hold a press conference to announce more details then.

Also on Monday, crews wishing to keep their whereabouts top secret will begin shooting scenes in Erie County. No updates are expected on that movie until filming has completed.

Although top actors and actresses like Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie won’t be walking around downtown Buffalo, famous celebrities are expected to be in town. They’ll join the list of celebs passing through the area as more movies are shot in western New York.

In 2015, 12 movies have been shot in or around the Queen City. One of the most explosive scenes happened on route 33 in Buffalo when Ninja Turtles film crews came to town.

The western New York film commission is seeing a huge spike in production crews requesting to shoot in our area.

Outside of the film industry, a TV show will visit the area, and a music artist will come to town to shoot scenes for his upcoming music video. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
