FREDONIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Hamburg man is in trouble with the law after State Police say he drove with a blood alcohol content (BAC) more twice that of the legal limit.
New York State Troopers say Jeffrey Collura, 24, missed a stop sign at an intersection on Roberts Road in the Town of Charlotte before driving into a ditch.
Authorities responded to the scene where a disabled vehicle with a flat tire was reported. Police reported fresh damage on the vehicle’s bumper, and scrapes on the car’s right side.
Upon arriving, Troopers say they could smell an odor of alcohol coming from Collura. After failing field sobriety tests, police issued a breathalyzer test that reportedly revealed him to have a BAC of .17 percent.
Collura was issued traffic tickets for driving across hazardous markings, DWI and driving with .10 of 1 percent or more alcohol in blood.
