SPCA says Pre-Columbus Day sale is smashing success

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Families looking to bring a furry friend into their lives came out in droves on Sunday as the Erie County SPCA held a special sale with a reduced adoption fee.

Adoption fees were slashed to $14.92 ahead of Columbus Day, sparking the adoption of 72 animals on Sunday alone. SPCA officials said they were overwhelmed with the outpouring of support.

The SPCA typically will adopt one or two animals on a Sunday afternoon, however they say while open, they adopted one animal every three minutes to a new family.

More than 500 people came out to the SPCA’s Tonawanda location to investigate the event.
