Batavia Armory sold for more than $200,000

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A state-owned building that has been slated to be sold for years is finally departing state hands.

At an auction in Batavia on Tuesday, officials sold the Batavia Armory, located at 235 State Street, to the highest bidder. The auction started at a paltry $60,000 for the 12,000 square-foot building, built in 1963, however it ended much higher.

New York State said David Vasciannie, a Batavia native, made a final bid of $235,000 for the building and a nearby maintenance garage that adds on another 12,000 square-feet.

Vasciannie did not reveal his plans for the building to officials at the auction.
