BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – The Buffalo Zoo wants everyone to know, that even though the warm weather is coming to an end, you can still stop by and see the animals.
“We’re open year-round, we’re really excited this year with the new Arctic Edge exhibit,” says Rachel Gottlieb, Buffalo Zoo’s Public Relations Coordinator. “With the polar bears, and the wolves, and the lynx and the eagles are all cold-hearty animals, so we’re really excited to see what it’s going to look like with the first snow-fall, and see how the animals react to the snow there. Its really going to be a great exhibit to look at in the winter.”
And the new Arctic Edge exhibit looks great, with fun interactive panels, great exhibits, and a brand new, and quite large pen for Luna to play in. With everything going on, winter might even be a better time to check it out.
‘It’s great because there is not a lot of crowds here in the cooler months, and the animals are actually more active,” Gottlieb explains. “When it’s hot and sunny out, the animals just lay around in the shade and it’s hard for people to see them, but when it’s cool like this, the animals are more active and they’re more fun to watch. And the zoo has a lot of great spots that are inside, so people can warm up.”
And there are still plenty of events going on, including one happening this Saturday. A very special first birthday to Sampson the Giraffe. If you’d like to join the celebration, just stop by the Buffalo Zoo this Saturday from 11 to 1.
