Car hits 71-year-old in Newfane

NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 71-year-old man was hit by a car on Friday morning in Newfane.

The man was crossing at the intersection of Main Street and East Ave. when a woman driving a Ford Escape attempted to make a right turn, striking the man.

Miller Hose Volunteer Fire Company helped the man at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital by Mercy Flight.

After the initial hospital visit, the man was transferred to ECMC with a number of injuries.

The driver, who is 79 years old, was treated for chest pains at the scene of the accident.
