Holiday Valley preparing for upcoming ski season

ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – There is no snow on the ground, but at Holiday Valley, they know it won’t be long before ski season. Today, crews were busy digging up the ground, and installing water lines to go to their brand new snow-making guns. They have added 37 new automated guns, bringing their total up to 237 automated guns, and 611 overall snow-making guns.

Once it’s cold enough, temperatures generally in the 20s, those snow-making guns will be on full blast. But perhaps the biggest off-season project has been making the resort more easily accessible.

They have re-aligned Holiday Valley road, so cars will have an easier time finding parking, and skiers and snowboarders will not have to cross traffic to make it to the mountain. This will give Western New Yorker’s easier access to what was recently ranked as one of the best resort in the northeast.

Jane Eshbaugh/Director of Marketing, Holiday Valley:”Something very exciting is Ski Magazine conducts an annual survey,” explains Jane Eshbaugh, the Director of Marketing for Holiday Valley, “and they ask their readers to rank their favorite ski resorts. And Holiday Valley was named 3rd in the east. The entire northeast.”

Ski season typically begins the day after Thanksgiving. Until that point, there is still plenty to do around Ellicottville.
