GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — A series of thefts and a robbery attempt led to an arrest by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
In late September, deputies were called to the scene of a robbery at a home in Grand Island.
Timothy Mulvey, 29, of Grand Island, allegedly claimed to be a maintenance worker named “Jake Rodgers” before entering the West River Road home.
After entering the building, Mulvey allegedly stated he planned to rob the resident.
Mulvey was scared off when the resident said someone was coming home soon, according to deputies.
A series of gym larcenies were being investigated during this time, and eventually, deputies say they connected those with the attempted home robbery because of similar suspect descriptions.
Mulvey was charged with felony attempted robbery, larceny charges, and other misdemeanors.
He was committed to the Erie County Holding Center on $5,000 bail and will appear in court on a later date.
