Heavy damage forces Canalside attraction to close

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Heavy wind damage that buffeted western New York on Wednesday and Thursday caused the total loss of an anticipated Halloween event at Canalside.

Organizers of Canal-O-Ween, the Black Morgue Manor, say a large chunk of their event, including a spooky photo and paintball shooting gallery, are ruined due to the inclement weather.

Andrew Kozlowski, the owner of the exhibit, said his ruined equipment totals between $5,000 and $8,000.

“It was pretty creepy, we had just fun activities for guests to do,” Kozlowski said. “People enjoyed doing it every day we were open.”

The event, that was set to culminate with a spooky display for all ages this week, is now closing down ahead of the busiest time for their business.

Kozlowski said some did get to enjoy the event before its destruction, however.
