VIDEO: Man faces assault charges for altercation with Uber driver

CALIFORNIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A California Uber driver fended off the attack of a drunken customer over the weekend, prompting the man’s arrest.

The driver said the Californian entered his car but was too intoxicated to give directions, so he asked the man to leave. After asking the man to leave, he allegedly became enraged and is seen on video striking the driver.

On video, the man slaps the driver from the back seat, then grabs his hair to strike his head further.

The Uber driver pulled out a can of pepper spray, reached back and doused the alleged assailant. Police who investigated say they arrested 32-year-old Benjamin Golden. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
