Gunfire, marijuana and a car chase lead to multiple felonies in Lockport

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A call of shots fired turned into a lot more for Lockport Police Thursday.

Just before noon, police headed to a Walnut Street residence where two gunshots were reported. They say “two suspects were on foot and running north bound from” the street.

Shortly after, the suspects were found and taken in by police for questioning. A third, female suspect was detained at the scene and also taken into police custody.

Police say the two initially mentioned suspects were involved in an altercation at a victim’s house where gunfire struck the building and a car.

After the initial firing of shots, a short car chase began between those involved with the incident, according to police. They say more shots were fired during the chase.

No one was hurt by the gunfire.

During the investigation, police executed a search warrant at the Walnut Street residence where they say they found a large amount of marijuana.

The homeowner, Brian Morrow, 25, was charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana.

Also arrested during the investigation was Derek Burglar, 21. He faces a number of felonies, including attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The investigation is ongoing. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
