Inmates accused of possessing pills

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County Sheriff’s deputies say Xanax pills were discovered inside an inmate’s housing unit during a fight at the County Holding Center.

The fight happened Thursday afternoon and involved several inmates.

During an investigation into the fight, deputies say they found the pills in the housing unit of 30-year-old Kevin Fomby of Buffalo. Additional pills were found inside the finger of a latex glove in the rectum of another inmate — 29-year-old Darryl Barnes of Buffalo.

Both Fomby and Barnes were charged with felony possession of dangerous contraband in prison and criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

The two are also set to face administrative charges. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
