Young CEO speaks to Buffalo youth at MLK Multicultural Institute

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An inspiring young person attempted to spread her message in Buffalo to the Queen City’s youth on Friday.

The CEO of one successful company may only be 11-years-old, but she’s already inspiring others. Mikaila Ulmer is the founder and CEO of Beesweet Lemonade, a product that helps preserve bees.

She spoke with students at the Martin Luther King Multicultural Institute in Buffalo to talk about her journey in Texas from a 4-year-old with an idea after she suffered a bee sting.

Ulmer said she started researching bees after the sting, and realized how endangered they are. She took her grandma’s recipe for lemonade and began selling it to help conserve bees.

Since her elevation to fame, Ulmer has appeared in several magazines, received several rewards and appeared on the CBS evening news. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
