Cheektowaga PD investigating suspicious death of two-month-old baby

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Cheektowaga Police are investigating the suspicious death of a two-month old boy.

Cheektowaga Assistant Police Chief Jim Speyer says first responders received a call about the baby on October 24th.

When they responded, they say the father brought the boy to the first floor of their Meadow Place apartment. The infant’s face was reportedly blue and authorities say he wasn’t breathing.

The boy was taken from his home and U-Crest Fire Chief Ron Pocobello says he was given CPR and brought back to life twice, but later died on October 28th.

Next-door neighbor Anthony Lance says, “I seen cop cars outside and the mom — well, the grandparents pulled up, and the mom pulled up, and the boyfriend was outside crying.”

No arrests have been made so far in the case. Police are working with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner. Medical test results are pending.
