Police: Men charged with felonies after attempted robbery in Dunkirk

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday morning, Dunkirk Police arrested two men accused of trying to rob a Dollar General on E. 4th St.

Police responded to a citizen complaint where they say they found the two men in front of the store. One of the front windows of the store had been broken out.

Upon police arrival, the two men allegedly ran in opposite directions. They were both taken into custody after short foot chases.

The men were identified as Silver Creek resident, Benjamin Catalino, 19, and Julio Montanez, 21, of Dunkirk.

They were each charged with obstruction of governmental administration, 3rd degree attempted burglary and 3rd degree criminal mischief. The latter two charges are felonies.

Catalino and Montanez were committed to Chautauqua County Jail following arraignment.
