Sheriff: Man intentionally ran over and killed dog

TOWN OF SHERMAN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Investigators with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office are looking into what they call a “dog murder”.

Deputies say Richard Frey, 66, of Sherman, intentionally ran over a dog with a vehicle, killing it.

Frey had allegedly seen the dog in front of his car but continued to travel forward into the animal.

He is charged with Agriculture and Markets law overdriving, injuring and torturing animals, according to deputies. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
