BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 33-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after jumping from the third floor of Buffalo Police Headquarters.
Police say the man forced open a window in an interview room inside the building during a questioning session. Officers say the sex offense squad brought him in for an interview in connection with a reported forcible touching case.
Officers say the man jumped from the window and landed on Franklin Street at about 10:30 p.m. Police then responded, taking him into custody and rushing him to the Erie County Medical Center.
A day after the jump, police charged him with forcible touching and harassment in connection with the previously reported incident and escape and criminal mischief in connection with the jump.
The man’s injuries aren’t believed to be serious, however he is under police guard while he recovers. Mayor Brown says a Buffalo Police Internal Affairs investigation into the incident is ongoing.
