JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two Jamestown residents have been arrested and charged with a string of burglaries acted out in broad daylight in Chautauqua County.
Police in several different municipalities, including in Pennsylvania, reacted to multiple burglaries in October and early November. Those police departments worked with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office in an investigation that led to the arrests of 28-year-old Eric R. Lewis and 51-year-old William J. Lewis.
Officers say they tracked down the two after connecting the burglaries together by a sighting of a Honda CRV at the scenes of some of the burglaries. In early November, police in Pennsylvania stopped the two in a Honda CRV and impounded the car and the interview of William Lewis
With information secured from the interview, police say they picked up Eric Lewis for an interview in New York State. After compiling all evidence and the interviews, police say they arrested the two men on Tuesday.
Each stands charged with three counts of second degree burglary and “many other charges” in Busti, Ellicott and Pennsylvania.
