Sheriff’s Office looking for two vehicles stolen from Erie County Park System

SARDINIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two vehicles are reported stolen from the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry.

The Department says a utility vehicle and an all-terrain vehicle from the Bureau of Forestry were taken. The vehicles are identified as a 2015 Polaris Ranger ATV and a 2004 Yamaha Kodiak 450 QUAD.

Thieves reportedly broke into the facility’s locked storage shed on Sunday night.

“While this equipment is used by the Erie County Parks Department, this is a theft from the people of Erie County and it will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “It is discouraging that someone would steal machinery that is used to keep our parks and our park patrons safe, but we are working closely with the Erie County Sheriff’s office to apprehend the criminals. I urge anyone who might have knowledge of this crime to please contact the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.”

The Polaris vehicle is described as sage green and black with a poly sport roof, winch, and front and rear brush guards.

The Yamaha vehicle is described as sage green and having a winch.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call police at (716) 867-6161. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crimestoppers to help find the vehicles.
