Rex Ryan makes first return to New York since Jets firing; Bills wear red in Thursday game

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (WIVB) — The Buffalo Bills will be wearing red as they take on a sea of green in the form of the New York Jets.

The Bills will be taking on the Jets on the team’s New Jersey home field at MetLife Stadium.

“I truly believe in this team. I think when we get healthy we are gonna be tough to handle, and that’s the truth. I think our guys are getting better and better and shoot, nobody has seen the best of the Buffalo Bills but they’re starting to,” said Bills head coach Rex Ryan.

Rex has been making headlines this week after naming defensive end and former Jet Ik Enemkpali a co-captain for Thursday’s game. Enemkpali was picked up by the Bills after the Jets released him for punching quarterback Geno Smith and breaking his jaw during training camp this year.

Rex also wore a Clemson helmet to a press conference as a tribute to his son, who plays wide receiver there.

Rex also made fun of Jets quarterback and former Buffalo Bill Ryan Fitzpatrick’s beard during his comments to the media.

Thursday will be Ryan’s first time back at MetLife Stadium since being fired by the Jets last year.

One topic Ryan is not interested in discussing is his return to New York.

“I promise I will give an honest answer after the game because right now I haven’t thought about it. I mean when I tell you what I am telling you, it’s the truth. We’re just trying to prepare for a game in a short week,” Rex says. “Would it have been different if it was a longer thing? Maybe, but at no point was I like, ‘Oh, I had this one circled’. Everybody knows me. I circle the Patriots. That’s what I do.”

We will have coverage of tonight’s game starting on News 4 at 5. News 4 will have an exclusive interview with Rex Ryan on News 4 at 6.

The Thursday Night Blitz will air on Channel 4 at 7:30 p.m. Kick off is at 8:25 p.m., and on News 4 at 11, we’ll have full post-game reaction to the game.
