Copper thieves strike again in Erie County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police in western New York are aware of copper thieves striking power stations of late, however they were able to strike again recently.

Officers say they learned of a new theft at a power substation of the New York State Electric and Gas group. Thieves made off with about 75 feet of copper wiring.

Police say thieves struck the substation on Olean Road in the Town of Holland, and the recent theft is forcing police to ask the public to be vigilant.

Although they’ve warned the public in the past, now officers are asking the public to keep an eye on substations and contact (716) 858-2903 if anybody sees anything suspicious or has any information.
