Consumer Reports calls ‘em—who’s naughty and who’s nice

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Consumer Reports is calling out companies that deserve a lump of coal this Christmas, in the magazine’s annual “Naughty and Nice” survey.

The consumer watchdog publication reviewed businesses who have been good to their customers in the past year, and which one have not been so good.

The editor listed about an equal number of companies for both the naughty list and the nice list, with Allegiant Air making the “naughty” list for advertising low prices, but tacking on additional fees and charges, to raise the price passengers eventually pay.

Transportation carriers like UPS and Fedex are still listing fuel surcharges, even though the price of diesel fuel is its lowest in years

Senior Project Editor Tod Marks, who compiled the survey said he put Target on his “nice” list because of the company’s price matching.

“Where they will they will price match not only that of a local competitor, but that of an online competitor, including Amazon, including the warehouse clubs like Sam’s and Costco, and including Walmart.”

Marks also lauded Target cutting its minimum for free shipping from $50 to $25, and allowing consumers more time to get cash in on a sale after the sale.

“They will also increase the amount of time you have to request a ‘price adjustment’. In other words, if you see the item you bought for less? 14 days.”

Marks also praised airlines Southwest and JetBlue for putting their customers first.
