Man taken into custody after 13-hour standoff with police

TOWN OF SHERIDAN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Just before 10 a.m. Sunday, New York State Police responded to a domestic dispute in the Town of Sheridan where they say a 13 hour standoff occurred.

New York State Troopers say after more than half a day of negotiations, Jeffrey Gizowski, 43, was taken into custody.

State Police say he had barricaded himself during the Werle Road standoff.

Charges against Gizowski are pending. He was previously arrested in June in relation to an armed robbery in Irving. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
