Public help leads to arrest of man allegedly linked to lewd act

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — Members of the public helped police in Niagara County arrest a man who is accused of carrying out a lewd act in public.

Police say Rohan G. Purville, a 39-year-old local man, acted in a lewd manner inside the Walmart in Lockport on Nov. 15. The act, police say, lasted over an hour.

New York State Police say they relied on help from the public to solve the crime. Members of the public helped encourage Purville to turn himself in to police, where he was arrested and charged with public lewdness.
