Man accused of more than 200 counts of sex abuse attempts suicide

LOCKPORT, N.Y (WIVB) — A man arrested in Fall of 2014, accused of over 200 counts of sexual abuse, has attempted suicide.

Iver Phallen, 67, is accused of sexual assault, strangulation and kidnapping at least three women. He allegedly met some of the women at a North Buffalo strip club.

During a search of his Lewiston residence, authorities say they found ropes, gags, surgical instruments and a list of targeted women.

Lewiston Police Chief Chris Salada says Phallen subjected one of the women to “physical, mental and sexual abuse over an extended period of time.”

Phallen was hospitalized after the incident, according to authorities. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
